Virgin Of Guadalupe
Cynthia has created for me a new shirt from a design I came up with. This one is called the Virgin of Guadalupe. It was inspired by the Jesse Treviño mosaic I saw while in San Antonio.

She’s so crafty! Thank you Cynthia!

Having made me a pile of shirts I was delighted when Cynthia decided to design and make for herself a jacket she could wear to the gallery opening.
Her idea required a variety of different decorative trims which we sought out and acquired at various fabric store all across town.
I think it came out quite nice…

While out hunting fabric we found some that just had to become a shirt. The problem was that it had 4 different kinds of fish so we didn’t see it being patched together into the usual design. We wanted to accent the different styles of fish that were present in the print so I came up with a design similar to the Loteria shirt.
On the front would be two panels, one side featuring the larger fish and the other side featuring the smaller fish
Then the back would feature 3 individual fish from another part of the print
Note the machine embroidering
Cynthia was able to knock this shirt out in just a few hours.
We have named it Lava Lamp.
It’s so very groovy!

The latest custom shirt from the Cynthia Collection.

How awesome is this fabric pattern?

You may have seen this in a picture I am using online quite a bit, but I failed to present it with any fanfare.
Another Cynthia orginal!
Enter the Dragon!

This is one of my favorite custom shirts out of the Cynthia collection.
When we found the fabric we both agreed that it reminded us of The Scream by Edvard Munch.
This shirt has been named “Screamy.”
Detail shot of the shirt pocket:

Cynthia has been hand-making me a shirt about once every month. I haven’t posted the last several but the one she completed this weekend is easily one of my favorites.

At first glance it looks like a fairly innocuous print.
Almost western in a way…until you study it in detail.

The latest shirt. Cynthia made this on Saturday. The fabric was one she noticed first.
When it was brought to my attention I loved it but was not absolutely sure it would make a good shirt.
We talked about it and looked at it and looked some more. A nice older woman passed by and said to go for it and seemed genuinely enthused by the idea of a shirt made from this fabric.
I like it because it has a retro 50’s/60’s thing going on with the Audrey Hepburn style women at the vintage bar. The repeating pattern has a very tie-dye look. All the elements come together and, best of all, it complements my blue eyes.
This one is called “The Blue Lady”

The latest from the Cynthia collection.
I really took a liking to this fabric when I found it at the quilting supply store in Katy. Cynthia was not so sure.
Little did we know how hard it would be for Cynthia to work with it. The pattern is … wll, slippery. It litterally makes your eyes swim when you look at it and when you are required to maintain a constant focus for the purpose of cutting and sewing the actual shirt it plays havock on your eyes.
Cynthia actually named this shirt “Swimmy.”
Pictures don’t do it justice. The cobination of light and motion is what really sets this shirt off.
